MJH Communications is led by Melissa Hurley, a Boston-based PR consultant who brings 12 years of communications experience, having worked with clients such as the National Association of Broadcasters, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Department of Conservation and Recreation, Converse and Kidde Fire Safety. She is also the executive director of the Massachusetts Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Prior to forming MJH Communications in 2007, Hurley spent six years at a Boston and Washington DC-based strategic communications firm, most recently as Vice President of Public Relations and Special Events. She specialized in developing cost effective public awareness campaigns utilizing traditional and non-traditional mediums. These statewide campaigns educated the public on issues such as homeland security, influenza and avian flu, recycling, and carbon monoxide safety.
From 1997-2001, Hurley worked within the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety, first as spokesperson of the Governor’s Alliance Against Drugs and later as speechwriter and events manager for the Cabinet Secretary.
A graduate of Emerson College with a BS in Speech Communications, she has a certificate of completion from Yale University School of Government. For 10 years she hosted an award winning public affairs community cable program seen in Greater Boston. For nearly a decade Melissa has served as the publicity chairperson for New England’s premier fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the TomorrowNite Gala.
